Neighborhood guide

Music Valley / Opryland

The resort district on the Cumberland bend northeast of downtown: the Grand Ole Opry, the Opryland resort campus, Opry Mills and the riverboat dock, all built for cars and conventions.

Downtown Nashville skyline over the Cumberland River.

The overview

Music Valley is a destination in itself rather than a neighborhood you wander. The Opry House, the resort with its indoor gardens, the outlet mall and the showboat dock sit within a mile of each other along Briley Parkway and the river, and almost everyone arrives by car or shuttle.

Stay here when the property is the point: a family week with pools and indoor atriums, a convention at the resort, or an Opry night with a hotel a few minutes away. Downtown is twenty to thirty minutes by car depending on the hour, so a honky-tonk plan means a ride each way.

Outside the resort campus the area is hotels, chain restaurants and parking lots. It is quiet at night, easy to park in, and a long way from the walkable parts of the city.
